Robot Masters and Medabots are artificially intelligent robots meant to protect and serve humanity in Silicon City, a town co-inhabited by robots and humans rather peacefully. The series centers around both Aki Light a robot built by scientist Dr. Light who looks like and lives the routine of a human schoolboy, and Ikki Tenryou, a 10-year-old boy who purchases a Medabot of whom he calls "Metabee", and since then is willing to participate in any "Robattle" tournament.
However, following treachery by Dr. Wily in which he reprogrammed most of Dr. Light's robots, Aki volunteered to be converted into a fighting robot to defend the city and world from violent robotic threats, thus becoming MegaMan.
